Name Changes

The IRS is reminding us that we need to inform the Social Security Administration if we changed our name in 2013. When you file your income tax return, the IRS matches your information with that on file at the Social Security Administration. If that information does not match, then your tax return will be rejected.

So if you got married in 2013, congratulations!! But be sure you get your name changed at the Social Security Administration if needed. (Everyone does not change their name when they get married.)

If you got divorced in 2013, we're sorry. But associated with that, if you changed your name, be sure you get it changed at the Social Security Administration.
